76 Week Goetia – Purson

Me: “Greetings, my Lord Purson. Thank you for coming.”

Purson: “Thank you for calling. I appreciate the incense. (I asked what incense he wanted before calling him formally. New Rain by Hem and Japanese Cherry Blossom by Plant Guru). I do appreciate the offer (to select from what I have)”

M: “I thank you for your patience. There was the delay while I did the dedication with the Hekataeon.” (I already know it was partly due to my being able to focus with that and the 21 day curse with Zhao Gongming, but the delay IS/WAS appreciated and I wanted to publicly state it).”

P: “You’ve read through the week quickly and you’re right, there are things you already know. I can help fill in a few more blanks and will do so throughout the week. Thank you for already depositing my sigil under your mattress before calling. It will come in handy, even if you don’t remember.”

With that, he left.

“Things you already know” is something he wanted me to expand on. Sometimes, it’s called the “Great Work”, but all of the places using these things have their own meanings. Often, these are tied to “Paths” and paradigms and that is both a box of worms and a slippery slope. For the 76WG, Purson can help you find your “PURPOSE” or part of it. For a single purpose works for some, but not others. There are facets, branches, or “side quests” that add to and enhance or enable the “Main Quest” or your Great Purpose. Just like a Bethesda game, your choices affect the quests and taking one path doesn’t necessarily exclude some of the others.

He did want me to elaborate a bit and I’ve been quite open over the years about my known “Quests”. I want this to be my last incarnation and my efforts and hard work have paid off. I’ve been open that this has happened from listening to spirits and their advice and I wasn’t thrilled about several of those pieces of advice.

The variety has helped me get a better handle on how things feel when they are being done on the energetic level for very different types of paths. This is partly why you see less physical ritual and more energetic components in my work. If you want to act as the Gods, the learn to do so I the here and now. I’ve published rituals, videos, and articles about this. It’s not the easy path and takes more dedication, which is why there isn’t much about it. But if one wants the skills and methods of the Gods, one must strive to act similarly.

Another is that I am publishing this path for a similar reason. Breadcrumbs for when I am gone. Millions of hits occur for simplistic physical rituals with a petition. But simplistic rituals do not produce the same transformation of learning. Genuine magic gets lost in the easy and “10 Steps for X”. Complexity for the sake of it or for the spectacle of ritual to make it an emotional event wastes time and resources – provided emotional transformation wasn’t the goal, of course.

Someone must provide a lantern to those realizing that simple channels don’t have the advanced methods there because they haven’t done the harder work. So, a lone(ish) voice advocating and publishing material to move past magic simple mode in a virtual world swamped by Ceremonial and similar external methods is actually quite valuable.

I won’t list all of the writing prompts for the Freewrite, but there are two worth typing here for anyone reading this. Page 91, “If you had a calling, what would you say it is?” and “What themes resurface in your life frequently?”

One of these is addressed in the post The Bulwark I wrote here. I was frequently called on for protection when growing up in…difficult circumstances. This theme picked right back up when I started really engaging with the Occult. I spent about 4 years in active conflicts, most of which were not of my own making. I can’t think of any that were, but I could be misremembering. This would often lead to additional stress in my life and once the person was stabilized, things got a bit better. It did hone a lot of skills and made my Defensive and Offensive work MUCH better. Most magicians that haven’t had a genuine encounter with talented or even competent magicians don’t really have an understanding of the application of their theoretical skills in that area and the ones that think blanket, generic techniques are enough will get a rude awakening.

Eventually, I was tasked with this, as per my post. Until then, it had always been on a situational basis and typically, I was defending/bolstering someone that was attacked by an asshat. But it doesn’t mean I can save the world or to get involved with every conflict. It mostly means I should act when I feel I should. Even that isn’t quite what it would seem. I still have to send out the intent of seeing if I should help and then feel an answer. It’s not uncommon to get back a response that seems lukewarm, which means that the timing isn’t quite right. I typically don’t act on emotion – in ritual or with the decision to jump into the fray. I am very aware that I don’t always know the reasons for things and this is why I send it out and ask trusted spirits when I disagree or want more guidance, clarification. I may or may not get this from them, but will ask all the same.

From the person I asked about maybe something I missed. “You’d make a good detective. You’re analytical and empathetic, and unlikely to be corruptible, but also capable of detaching when necessary and you can handle disturbing situations. You’ve experienced war. Plus you can talk to the dead, lol.” I did try to get on the local police force both before and after Basic and Infantry School. But, as can happen in small town America, especially without the Internet, you have to know the right people to get on board.

Invocation: Scrying Session (black tourmaline ball, vocal transcript)

I’m showing a feel where there’s a cliff on the left with the ocean at the very bottom of it, but I cannot see the shore from where I am standing. There is a woman wearing a somewhat of a wispy white dress – not provocative in any manner. She is somehow flowing with and on the breeze although she isn’t moving and appears to be standing on the ground. She motions me to come near to her and I follow. She points out towards the sea and it’s only then I turn to see where she is facing. I see that there is a distant shore that seems like a volcano coming out of the ocean. There are clouds covering most of it from say the middle or the top third up. It’s billowing smoke and is quite active and I don’t understand why she seems so happy looking in this direction. For some reason the sight pleases her.

Next at scene. I’m standing inside of some sort of volcanic crater. The ground is cracked and blackened and rivers of orange magma come through moving a little faster than I would expect. Flowing more like a river. I am and if not inside that volcano I just viewed. This seems to be representative of all such areas.

Now I’m looking back over a pasture with what looks to be somebody similar enough to Jesus Christ that he came to mind. This person herding sheep – except these sheep were penned in. I don’t know if that was for the evening or their typical home, but I do not see a lot of tracks outside of the fence. There is a walking trail. I will not be going down it.

Now I’m standing in the middle of some older city where the streets are winding and narrow. The street lights don’t always send light into all the nooks and crannies where one can get lost. I travel as people have throughout time. I am following a narrow walkway that leads to a stairwell with spirals to the counterclockwise. There’s no light except that which sometimes come through these small slits. I’m still walking down and I don’t notice any odors. I don’t know why I’m walking down the stair steps, but I’m not in fear. I seem a bit curious.

He said this is all.

There was a lot going on here and the Jesus Christ part through me off a bit. What he’s relaying is that there are many paths one can walk. Some make more sense than others. Some are for pleasure, some for curiosity. Some leave one with fewer options than others and can lead to dependency upon that path. Some paths are not as appealing or make as much sense to others. But all are valid paths.

And they sometimes have to be combined to get the full picture.

aaaaaaaa

I was going to quit for the night, having spent a significant amount of time doing ritual before and in-between dinner. But Purson has been quite generous with his patience. I cannot deny him when he has been so accommodating with this unusually hectic schedule of mine.

P: “And what did you do tonight?”

M: “Made dinner and ritual fit in appropriately.”

P: “Did you want to?”

M: “Which?”

P: “Any…”

M: “It needed done. There were three important requests to some of the same spirits and it made sense to do them at the same time. They weren’t competitive, nor conflicting.”

P: “You were pursuing your Purpose.”

M: “I was doing the daily for the 21 day curse before that…. Those were for helping.”

(Purson didn’t say anything. His answer didn’t change. Both were appropriate)

Once I had really realized that, that those two opposing items were actually related in purpose, I did smile wryly.

P: “We are done. Any ritual to find one’s purpose involves doing enough rituals of different types to understand what one’s purpose is – in these areas. We are done. Stick of incense?”

M: “First Rain?” He nodded and left.

“Purpose” can shift at times. There is typically a core path we are following at the moment and this can shift and change with the lessons we are supposed to learn. As we progress, both as people and magicians, these things can shift. “Only doing ‘good’” in any variation is a lie and, at best, a half-truth told from ignorance or the ego trying to protect/project itself. That isn’t some carte blanche for disregardful debauchery, but that isn’t something I “suffer from”.

Just some food for thought and to bring some honesty to the Love and Light horseshit that floats around pretending to be complete Truth.

Hail Purson! And thank you.
