76 Week Goetia Week 3 – Vassago

I am late but I’m starting with the Vassago tonight.

Meditation: I I was meditating on the sigil while reciting his enn. I saw a few people at work that are wavering or waffling on an award. Vassago indicated I should ask for his help with this, which I will do.

I did ask for his help and he indicated the DreamWork would start tonight.

Free write: I felt I should free write about the Vassago and cursing. I’ve been feeling a shift at work this week where there is more dismissal and ill intent. It was noticeable today.

V: “Reach out to me or use my n and I will help them stumble upon themselves.”

He indicated I was done for the night outside of requesting a stick of incense.

Vassago Invocation 1

I don’t like this exercise. It’s more self-help than genuine transformation. I’ve been thinking about it off and on and for hours the Vassago bid me to write it all down.

the exercise involves staying in front of mirror and then try to convince yourself of what you want to be. Stating it openly and out loud. There are ways to make this actually effective instead of just reminding yourself of what you’re not.

The first is hinted at in the pair a couple of paragraphs after the exercises explained and it’s essentially where it’s leading you into thinking that change is already happened based on reciting the enn. Now you could ask for that energy to transform you, but just look at yourself in the mirror and steady it isn’t going to do much of anything for you on it’s own. You have to recite the enn with that intent and with the intent of making change and even then there are better ways of doing it in my opinion.

The other is to hold the picture of you being that way inside of your head and potentially using feelings to help guide what “success” would look like and feel like. If you think that that is similar to how ritual is done for making change in the world that is correct.

My conversation with the Vassago about this was much longer than just two paragraphs here. I think these two paragraphs are much better at explaining what I think actually needs to happen and how it can really be useful apart from just some emotional exercise which isn’t going to make lasting change in my opinion. This would need to be repeated several times I think to really be effective in its the current form in the book. Other people may find that to be exactly what they need to do and they may be comfortable with that so that’s up to them.

Evocation 2

I almost couldn’t read my own writing here.

V: “You wonder wear that moment of thankfulness came from out of the blue. You knew it had an exterior origin, yet you didn’t associate that with me. Why?”

M:”I was trying to live in the moment that seemed so right and appropriate. I felt I was a gift from who/whatever and I did not want to waste it.”

V: “It is rare.”

M: “It is.”

V: “Should it be?”

M: “I’m unsure. Without hunger for something some of us especially me drown rather than tread water.”

V: “That is good to know (for oneself )”

V: “The visions you saw earlier may come true, but will it?”

M: “That isn’t my call.”

V: “No, just your part in it. You haven’t decided.”

M: “I have and that seems like the only honorable thing to do.”

V: “Honorable? Is it? (Yet) isn’t it? It is still a choice.”

M: “It is and I would make it the same even if I hadn’t been charged with that by another spirit.”

(He was pleased with my reasoning. The decision itself didn’t matter to him.)

V: “Very good. Use your ball for the Dream Work tomorrow.”

What he’s referring to here is that I saw two friends get into a magical scuffle that one of them didn’t deserve at all. There was no reason for it but the attacker wouldn’t see otherwise and couldn’t be swayed so it would have been my duty to help my friend at least in a defensive capacity.

I wish I could say that that was just theoretical or hypothetical, but unfortunately I’ve seen it happen in real life. And that’s exactly what I did and that was before I kind of been given that charge/responsibility by a spirit that is not in the Goetia at all.

I see a prairie, an open grassland with wind blowing leaves and stalks alike. I see an older man there. Older head with a younger body with some sort of armor or ritualistic costume. I’m unsure if there is metal, but I know there is leather. He’s motioning for me to come closer. I don’t understand why his head looks like both a goat, but also looks like a mask of a goat. The face is similar to that you see with the goat’s head in place of the five pointed star with horns coming from midway of the lower jaw and curling into several curls each and the horns at the top are just straight with slight curves. He shows me a fire on the prairie. This fire will come close, yet I don’t feel like we would be on fire if we stayed. Somehow the fire matters and it does not matter. It matters to those who are in its path and does not matter to those that doesn’t affect. He indicated I should reflect on this, but I don’t understand what the fire is in reference to in my waking Life.

This concluded my work with Vassago. It didn’t fit the mold of the book’s schedule, but it’s what I experienced.

Hail Vassago!
