I have a friend who has paid for and done most of the work for Jason Miller’s Sorcery of Hekate courses 1 and 2. As part of these courses, there is a lesson where he describes how to obtain a hunting hound from Hecate. My friend couldn’t “properly” care for the hound and was going through a time of magical strife and uncertainty. They asked if I wouldn’t mind taking over care for the hound in their stead. She knows I haven’t been through the courses and that I’ve not read the materials. I don’t know if there’s a video but there seems to be audio component one can purchase for a more than reasonable fee of $35.
My friend did this ritual and it does indeed work.
My friend wasn’t sure if I’d be able to connect to the hound or not. I have a relationship with Hekate that started over 5 years ago. I have a mainly energetic practice and have conversed with spirits for years now. Turns out I checked boxes – combo is enough. To me, it appears as a Doberman Pincher. I don’t know how it appeared to my friend and this will likely vary per person and their abilities.
One thing I wanted to note was that this hound appears to be alone, but once given a task, there seems to be a pack that go with him/her. Those hounds vary in size, shape and appearance and sometimes there seems to be some wolves involved. I was told to give it offerings based on the moon phase and this it recommended. I don’t always follow the exact phase, as I regularly give offerings and ask the hound every few days if it would like some incense of its own. It’s allowed to enjoy the nearly daily incense offerings I make and this could be why it’s rare that it wants its own.
To call it, I initially placed my hand on the skull and called the spirit forth that was attached/linked/tethered/associated to this skull, without focusing on the hound spirit the skull came from. That can be important when you have been practicing calling animals and similar back via bones and skulls to see if they’d like to form a working relationship. I also called out to Hekate and asked her to transfer “ownership” and responsibility to me, while also asking that any protective abilities it grants be extended to my friend. After all, I wouldn’t have it without them. I then offered to give incense and similar offerings for that work, too. This felt accepted.
I’ve used the hound for quite a few things and since I’m not up to speed on the ins and outs of Jason Miller’s courses, I be sure to ask the spirit if this is acceptable work for it. This has worked out pretty well. Whether hunting down hidden enemies and bringing a link to cast against, alerting to dangers before they manifest, or devouring lesser threatening entities, this hound has come in quite and handy. I’m thankful to have been given it for something as little as shipping.
Anyway, I wanted to at least give it a bump and help those undecided in the course or the hound ritual itself. It clearly works from within his system and I’ve been able to use it without it. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it the same way I have.
