No Longer Advocating for the Current Maoshan Teaching Methods – July 2024

As some that knew me through forums over the years are aware of, I was a big advocate of the Maoshan school taught by Jason Read. I own all of his books, have been dedicated in my practice with the private school for over a year now, and still do a large part of the daily exercises.

I have emails, if interested. This isn’t a smear campaign, but a legitimate occurrence of paying for several things, including being upsold, and then it never appearing for a myriad of reasons. Keep in mind that he never contacted me for an update. Which is ridiculous for a teacher that gives any care to his students.

I was defrauded of around 200GBP last September-October. I inquired about an “idol” he mentioned he had for sale. Supposedly 40 years old and having been used in a temple or similar. Absolutely interested. That plus shipping was 120GBP. Fine. Really looked forward to it. That was send on 9/30/2023 and I have the Paypal and email interactions. I was told it would be shipped on 10/1/2023 and have that email.

I was then asked if I wanted “12 Essences and 7 incenses needed for consecration. I’ve also a batch of Five Army Heads” These were needed for Maoshan rites. I was interested and they would costs 70 GBP. Sure!

On 10/11/2023, I was told the items were being packaged up.

A month later, I let him know I completed the Yin Debt payment and was told he was waiting on a “missing ingredient”.

On 12/22, I was told he was waiting for this to arrive.

APRIL 21st, I followed up, because nothing arrived. NOTHING.

May 2024, I send an email stating I’m moving to Hawaii and need to pay the additional shipping. May 6th, I’m told it should be there in 2 weeks and was promised a tracking number.

Nothing. More courses. None of the other stuff is answered or even responded to properly. More and more courses come out where the students are asked to pay, yet, despite the GRAVE warnings in the very beginning, the actual rituals for consecrating the altars and idols aren’t given.

What’s really unfortunate is that this looks like the classic “teach a Westerner” fraud where they want your money, but you don’t learn anything substantial. Perpetuated by a Westerner.

This is the epitome of fraud. Really unfortunate.

30MAR25 – I am republishing this, because nothing has arrived and the half-baked new classes for unusable material continues.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. I hope you get what you are owed. What a sad way to represent a lineage and its teachings.
