I spoke about how I planned on cleansing my ritual space not too long ago. My space sees HEAVY use, both in terms of volume and in energy moved. That makes a difference. So does the amount of spirit activity in those areas.
The movers got done a bit early, so I had a chance to do this with only me at the vacant household – which I was VERY thankful for. Instead of a hard, forced approach where I blast the area with neutralizing energy to overwrite, I felt I should go another route. The forceful approach would work to overwrite, but lacked the nuance I wanted to leave – that this was a special space that could be access more fully by spiritual people.
I hadn’t done this specific overwrite/conversion before. I notified the entire room, but felt I couldn’t manage my attention to move the energy down AND fill in the space at the same time. There’s a lot written into the walls of that place ambiently. A balanced mix, but VERY active, very “full”. I felt I would be missing more than I want (would’ve been adequate, but not ‘professional’).
I chose to focus specific panels, portions, and then instructing the energy to move into the soil below. I had done this with the whole room and I found that the spots weren’t as clean as I’d like. This is why I started focusing on portions of it. Why? There was a vacuum of power and without something to take its place, the difference was too great and power was being pulled from other areas to help bolster it.
Thus, I would move the energy down like a slow moving, but unstoppable glacier, while topping off the areas with a neutral, dull white. Why not a bright an shiny version? The intent was to reduce the accumulated power to the renters, thus a reduction in brilliance (active energy). I did this section by section, for however long it took (I was off work and had the place to myself). Once the walls were done, I did the ceiling up past the roof and all of the structures inside of the room. Finally, I did the floor and settled it underneath the floor, far enough that it won’t beacon to most folks. I also attached it to the soil and directed it to disperse downwards.
I took each part at its own pace. Not all part received the same amount of intense energy. Some parts were fast with the panel, some weren’t. But my heaviest areas, ironically, didn’t require substantially more. Why? Because the energies were used to being directed through ability and not emotion.
Why would I be so thorough? Well, I moved to the garage next, where I had anchored a Shadow Gate for those entities from the Shadownomicon. The anchor item is in a box on its way to Hawaii by the end of September, but the anchor item isn’t the portal. It’s a way to fuel the portal. Having already given notice, this was expected. I dissolved the remaining parts of it and sunk them into the soil in a dispersed pattern, with the agreement that it would be left to decay and not come back. This area got the same treatment, but it was a set of cabinets.
Some may ask about my “graveyard”. Lovely space. This area is covered up. The anchor stone is activated. I gave some offerings the other day that were appropriate and I had to remove the veil to get the best effect. But the dead, none of which I had ever met or noticed before, knew that I possess the new anchor stone and that the “gate” was active, but subdued. If my attention is changed, it isn’t felt, but knowing it is there means I can connect. That is the same approach that will be used. The Dead know and there are those that hang about nearby, voluntarily, off-property to let those know. Once I saw this mechanism at work – not my idea – I was reminded of how simply acts of decency and generosity can have lasting impacts. It was a humbling moment when some spirit I didn’t know came to me and said that they were watching to help those that come and (eventually) direct them to the new location.
If I said that I knew something so “simple” as setting aside a place, watching over it, and doing just decent people things for them would result in that, I’d be lying. While I have died many times, I started this as a way to honor the Dead on behalf of Hel and Hecate, originally. This blossomed until now I have entities managing the space on my behalf. It’s incredibly humbling, since I rarely see faces I know past a few weeks. They rotate out.
But they came for the final offerings I made when I was burning some stuff I had remaining where FIRE was the most appropriate disposal method and for a friend that is shifting practices and asked if I would dispose of some of the darker things for them on their behalf, given my relationships with some of those entities.
It’s immensely gratifying that the Dead are claiming and staffing the space I set aside for them. That space is going to go down to a very specific flower pot that is currently ona mover’s truck, but I have the anchor stone and, same House rules, they can come and be as they will in Hawaii. What will I change, with this most recent experience? Not much.
I can burn herbs and call to spirits to cleans a space for me if I were without my skills. I could make a ritual and ask psychopomp entities or their advocates to move those spirits towards a candle I put out monthly, like a tea light candle dressed (or not) with herbs and oils.
I want to point out that I wouldn’t banish these entities. Some just want a place to go before the “move on”. Banishing DOESN’T SOLVE PROBLEMS. It kicks it down the road for someone like me. Kindly use entities such as Hel, Hecate, Santa Muerte, Ereshkigal, St. Cyprian, and similar to remove an entity and keep it away, if you don’t have the skills or energy to do it. Sometimes I am tired, too. Stressed out, not in the mood, etc… General banishment kicks the can. Please call on an entity. If you can think and have intent, you can do it.
Rumor has it, you can ask them to neutralize your space, too. But that doesn’t provide you with the experience of actually doing it.
