I had only been working with Hecate for a few months and had only evoked Leviathan when I met Belial. I was in ritual with Hecate, Leviathan was quietly on the side, but present. I don’t recall what the topic was, but at that point it was a dance of simplistic questions, vocalized doubts, and confusion about this entirely new world I had found myself thrust into.
I was mid-sentence with Hecate when I felt a spirit shove his way into the space (it wasn’t crowded). I somehow knew it was Belial, but was completely shocked at his entrance. I looed to Hecate, then Leviathan. She wasn’t pleased and Leviathan was watching it unfold without giving anything away. I could “hear” Hecate and Belial talking, but could hear what was being said.
Truth is, I was torn between exerting my sovereignty over y ritual space (lol, that would’ve been good), wondering why the other two didn’t seem more disturbed, and having that feeling that I should keep my mouth shut and see how it goes. Eventually, Hecate relented a bit. It wasn’t an “IF” I would work with Belial, but a “when” and she would’ve rather that be later than sooner.
He nodded to her and then said I should start attuning to him via his enn. He would let me know when it was time to call him and then left.
My relationship since that night in 2019 has been up and down. I got a lot of mentorship from him, sang him many songs (mostly this one), bled on many offerings. In time, I was working with him less and less intensely, until it became more of an “as needed” relationship.
I still think of him fondly and am grateful for the things he has taught me or facilitated other spirits into teaching me. Whether I would for him today – I largely won’t touch the areas for the “down” portions, but I will answer other things if called. I still call on him for Legal/Procedural things where he volunteers or I know he’s amenable to. And I pay him well.
