I’ve been contemplating a new round of servitors lately and rereading some material I’ve consumed about them over the years. Most of mine are very function or topic specific. I’d rather teach successful ones new tricks than make a generalist I have to teach more to.
It isn’t that it can’t be effective. Not saying that. I just haven’t had a need for that. There are a ton of general spirits around us all the time and familiars given to me largely have free run over the space to perform their tasks. What need did I have of them?
Tonight, though, I let go of a few servitors I had made that were specifically geared towards several adjacent abilities, frequently use in my “Campaigns” for negative reinforcement. They started off as Vampiric. Then, I added the ability to sort of “speak” to their victims to let them know what behaviors could make it stop or lessen. Then we moved to doing it against large groups, then subsets in those groups when power shifted and people got replaced, fired, or died. This is in a foreign country where things like that happen from time to time, anyhow. We were simply speeding up the process and adding messages to those that remained to try to instill the behavior we wanted.
They were quite successful. It was the first time I used a servitor to train another servitor the tricks I had taught it with energy work. Pretty cool to see. I could simply state my wish and periodically check to make sure they were still in good shape, getting fed from the proceeds, and didn’t need anything else from me as I sheltered them.
But that all ended tonight. One came into my space and asked if it could join Andras and learn from them. Of Course! Andras came with her to show it was legit and I couldn’t say no. That’s awesome. A loss for me, but that’s a pretty damn cool loss. So, I set it free.
The younger of the two then cam forward and asked if she could join, too, but not Andras. It was then that Glasya-Labolas came to show support and acceptance. How could I say no to her (servitor or GL)?
I have no doubts that these types of spirits exist in their hordes/legions of followers, but certainly wasn’t what I expected to happen, let alone happen tonight. I’m still a bit taken back, absolutely honored, and glad they are getting used and taught new ways to do dirty tricks!
