I get a lot of questions about how I would go about teaching somebody else the style of magic that I do and maybe what they can add to their own practices to make it a little bit more inclusive towards the energetic practices and the energetic side of magic itself, which is largely not pursued as much as maybe it should be. There are a lot of reasons for that, but mostly because it requires a lot of actual work, instead of just petitioning an entity to do it for you.
The three areas, three pillars, that really maintain and act as the foundation of my current practice would be genuine relationships with spirits, using the subconscious, and consistent energetic practices. Each one of these areas can be taken on their own and added to a current practice or two of the three for similar effect. All three together are really what form the solid foundation for my current practice. Each one of these areas will get its own post with links, thoughts, practices and exercises that can be done to enhance and build these areas up to where real meaningful change has occurred and you can take your practice to much higher level.
To be honest, each one of these areas takes time, takes consistent practice, and patience. I think that’s partially why people don’t pursue these paths. The work involved is much greater than simply throwing together ingredients, reading some words, and then working yourself into a frenzy. It can mean that you can reduce all of those things I just mentioned and become more free and untethered to specific practices, such as excessive emotion and using expensive ingredients. The reduction of either of those areas can mean that you can perform more Magic more efficiently with less downtime. This allows for spending more time in ritual actually becoming better at ritual or the energetic direct workings. On the application of your Will upon the world, than someone that has to wait for some ingredient to arrive or the has to wait a day or two to calm down and get back into a neutral state to then perform the next ritual. Adding any of these three areas to your practice can have real and dramatic benefits with no drawbacks that I can honestly think of unless you are performing Magic to record for video, because it can be kind of hard to show the gathering of the energy when the people paying for the ritual aren’t going to be able to see or feel it.
And while each of these areas does take some dedication, it’s not exclusive. You don’t have to put anything aside to practice them. You could do a little here, a little there. Consistent practice when developing it. Using it (and practicing) more frequently is going to likely result in better faster outcomes than slowly going about it. My path in this area was slow as they were things that I needed to do otherwise outside of magic and most of the work was done outside of a magical setting in my case.
I do typically suggest that people have had some success with Magic and I don’t think it matters in which discipline or anything like that. It’s important to understand that magic works and have some results from it to help foster a belief in the whole that will help make the work you’re about to do have more meaning than just exercises that just seem to go on forever. I think that anyone can benefit from adding a single part of this but adding all three is a much greater goal. They really form a symbiotic relationship that can power much greater spells and help move you from a beginning to intermediate, intermediate to advanced, and upwards. Simply doing the same things over and over again are not going to result in the type of change that you may want to achieve if Magic and the cultivation of spirituality is your goal.
