He out-stretched his arm and I could see water cupped in his palm. From this water, which never lessened, a small stream spilled out of his hand. Once it hit the ground, it started moving in a circle around him. This expanded as more water kept coming, faster and heavier as it continued. The original little trickle became a flash flood moving around him, spiraling outward.
When it had filled the ritual space and had swept away all unwanted energies, he motioned towards the horizon and the water left the space in that direction.
He motioned that I should try it (he likes to demonstrate and then wants you to practice it right away). I went to go get some water when he stopped me, noting that I should think about it. It dawned on me that the body has plenty of water in it.
I turned inward to connect specifically to that element and then called it to my cupped palm. I called a little more and let it start to spill out onto the ground. I then started directing the water to spiral around me and quickly was mentally overwhelmed trying to increase the volume and micromanage the direction of it.
I hadn’t paid attention to my rule – the Mind directs the Will sees it through.
I stopped, gave the direction and it became a torrent very quickly. When the water energy was flowing almost violently, carrying excessive ritual energy with it, I pointed to the horizon, intent set to send it forth, and the water rushed off. I did it again for practice and it went much more smoothly, naturally.
Kamohoali’i nodded and left.
Kamohoali’i’s Ward
Kamohoali’i’s ward is different than the previous two. Here we’re using the dispersing properties of water to help blunt incoming attacks and the Shark elementals of Kamohoali’i to have an active defense. Anyone can use the water, without a relationship with the Shark King. To really use the shark aspects of it and get the most of it, a relationship with Kamohoali’i is a good idea.
The basic premise is to call upon the element of Water, form the dome like Pele’s, and imprint the intent to disperse and nullify incoming attacks. The active, shark aspect of it comes with a calling to Kamohoali’i or a prior agreement and the intent of having them about your space.
1. Connect to your Spark however you choose to.
2. Connect to the element of Water.
note – The source could be a bottle of water, rain, an aquifer under your feet, etc…
3. Pull the water into a dome over the desired area
4. Add the intent that it disperse and nullify attacks as you pull the water
5. Call upon Kamohoali’i to send his sharks to protect your space via the water connection.
6. Add the floor to the ward.
7. Add any exceptions you want to the ward
8. Thank Kamohoali’i, if called upon.
“If called upon” was intentionally thrown in there. You could also call upon an Archetype for this to add an active protection measure. I don’t know that I would, personally, but the option is there and I wanted to highlight that. I prefer to know the spirits in my space that are providing an important service, such as guarding my living space or ritual space. But, that’s just a personal preference. Yours may differ.
