Youtube Questions about the Dead – from Kristen

Interesting series of questions here.

Not directly related to this video. I can’t recall which one I’m referring to. You spoke about a spirit that asked what would happen to the space you have designated for the dead. My question is: Why did you have to designate the area at all? Why do they need your space? What benefit does it bring to them by going to that physical location? Why are the entities that seem to “need” your designated area for the dead need it at all? Why are they still roaming around here? Why are they drawn to you? Why do some entities move on and others don’t? Hence the need for your space for them. I don’t understand the ambiguity of souls that move on and souls that don’t. Are they communicating with you because they don’t have anyone else to communicate with among the living? The “limbo” aspect of the souls you speak to is confusing to me. Why are they where they are? Where is everyone else? Why are they still here?

Thank you!

The single most honest answer is that nobody fully knows the larger scheme, but we see hints in experiences we have along the way. I can only speak to my experiences and the lore that I know that supports some of those observations. None of the lore I know supports all, including any/all of the major world religions. Most claim to, but we can also see and experience scenarios that don’t align with those experiences.

My designated place for the dead here on my property. I call it “my graveyard” and it is a location that I’ve set aside for their use. Not entirely their use, but it is a space for the Dead, Death, and similarly related energies. I place food offerings there for the local foxes, too. There are ties to foxes and the underworld and Yin energies in the Eastern side of things (Taoism and some others).

This area cultivates Death energies. When I visit a graveyard and am offered a stone to take back with me (and decide to do so), I begin the linking process from that space to the stone and link the stone to my little graveyard. I can now empower that soil or items in it with those energies. Not quite the same, but I’ve done this with over a dozen graveyards now, all of whose energies are unique. Not only do they get a space that resonates similarly to themselves, but I get to imbue things with those energies without having to desecrate a graveyard.

That last bit is a huge win for me. It means I can get alternative energies without disturbing anything. I won’t say it’s quite the same, but it’s close and with the different energies coming in, it brings a wider variety. Hecate called in a way I couldn’t ignore and my work with the dead is to honor that and the work I’ve done with other Death entities and psychopomps.

What do they get? Depends on the spirit. This is a safe space of sorts for all types of spirits that obey the rules. They’re allowed to come when I make general offerings and partake in those. I’m not entirely sure what some get out of it. It’s not uncommon for there to be several of the dead around the yard whose signatures I don’t recognize. That’s a daily thing. I don’t recognize where they’re from most of the time, either, so word gets out. I’ve been greeted at graveyards before by entities that know of me or this space. It’s only happened a few times and it still feels a bit odd in a good way when it happens.

Why are they drawn to me. Because I can help. Doesn’t mean they want it and I don’t typically force that if they aren’t acting dangerously or similar. There have been a few times where I forcibly did that, but they seemed to be locked into some sort of….hallucination(?)…that they couldn’t get out of. Some seem to get locked into scenarios repeating in their heads and they can behave erratically when this happens. I don’t have a good answer for that, but that “solution” has worked.

I have died several times in the past, as an newborn, child, and as an adult. I’ve seen some of them for as long as I can remember. Even when I closed myself off as much as I could, spirits would still come to me when they were really desperate and recognized something. I had no idea what I was really doing, but it worked well enough they didn’t come back (in a good way). I read somewhere to visualize a white light that would send them where they needed to go and not some specific destination.

There are some observations that give some clarity to your other questions. Some spirits degrade over time. There are some spiritualities that believe that the higher self separates from the lower self at death and the lower self loses it’s link to the ALL and degrades. I have seen this a fair amount and had picked up on it before I read about their theory. The length of time it takes to degrade seems to vary and I’m not sure why. I speculate and study it when I see it, but that isn’t the same as a legit FULL answer. Having my little graveyard here has given me more insight into the occurrence of it, since I see some that are clearly degraded, even though they haven’t been dead that long, while others have been dead for hundreds of years and still seem “spry”. Seems an almost inappropriate way to state it, but it’s exactly that.

Why do some more on and some don’t? Great question. Let me give you some examples from a graveyard I visited for a friend Eastern weekend 2024. A relative of theirs was waiting for their spouse to be ready to leave the graveyard. Both were deceased and had been for some time. Both were cognizant and interacted with me. One didn’t want to leave and the other was waiting with them. They had died a few decades ago, but I don’t recall offhand. No degradation of any sort. One seemed more religious than the other. No idea why they were hanging out there. I had short conversations with more of their relatives at another graveyard in that area and things were the same.

Some aren’t just hanging out and waiting in graveyards. When I step into a graveyard, it creates some sort of disturbance or signal. I can feel interest and curiosity. I’ll see entities popping in for a few to check things out and then leave again. Their graves act almost like a link to a space they can go to and when I realized that, I decided to set aside a patch of my yard for that same thing. That linking scenario happened a lot at this graveyard Old Bethel Methodist Church Graveyard. Almost all of my encounters there were spirits coming back in to check to see who it was.

I do open gates at each graveyard or place of a lot of loss of life and keep them open for a while in case anyone wants to go through. They can come back, if they want. I’ve seen many do that to thank me for persuading them to. Seems to open up their world a bit when they know they can move to other points. Some don’t seem to and I don’t have anything but opinions on why.

Where are they, if they aren’t “here”. Great question. Lots of answers. Just about all of them will be true to one extent or another. The WHY of this and that, isn’t clear without frameworks and dogmatic belief systems. Some parts of those make sense, but just as much doesn’t to me and I see and experience them all the time. For example, I was raised as a Mormon and they don’t believe you can hang out and go back and forth, but I’ve seen some of my dead Mormon relatives come here for offerings and to say hi. Same with the protestants and the borderline atheists. Some of the Norse from my family line come, too. Pretty sure the variety of my relative’s religious beliefs and convictions were pretty different, yet here they are.

Some DO want some help and that can take different forms. I’ve not been asked to phone someone’s relative and deliver a message. I’m pretty clear I am not going to do that. But I will ask a Deity or a psychopomp to guide them to that relative’s dreams. I was calling for a lady that…opted out…but was waiting around for her kids. She was going to be hard pressed to do that with the degradation I could see, so I contacted Hecate. She and later St. Cyprian have been helping her work through her issues and strengthening her so she can actually be around for her children, which are living. We would’ve been about the same age, this lady and myself. I came across her while listening to true crime podcasts for lesser known victims and decided to take some matters into my own hands – magically speaking.

Another example is when I was working through The Necromancer and there’s a part where you subjugate a shade and force it to do your bidding. I wasn’t sure what to do, since I wasn’t really interested in doing that to any spirit I had met, but the a friend of mine in Europe let me know there was a spirit known to cause problems in their building and wanted me to take a look at it. I evoked the spirit and realized it was locked into one of those recurring delusions. It was the first time I had ever seen it and recognized it for what it was. I subjugated it, bound it to a stone. I was going to release it after validating the feeding process and similar, but Hel asked me not to. She asked that I give it tasks and make offerings to it for sustenance.

Every few weeks I would send it on a task and noticed that the feedings and tasks themselves seem to pull this spirit out of the delusion. Eventually, he was normal acting and I told him that he was released from my service, but was welcome to stay. The rock would be his until he didn’t want it anymore. It wasn’t long until it was just an anchor point to come back to my place. Eventually, he did leave for good, but I can still feel him when I reach out, healthier than ever. Good for him.

All right, that’s all I got time for tonight. I gotta start shutting my brain down or I won’t sleep tonight!
